Bridging Generations Through Crafts

2025-01-22

Our school and the Evangelical Lutheran Church Shatin District Community Centre for the Golden-Aged collaborated on two transformative craft workshops in November 2024 and January 2025. These gatherings became a canvas for intergenerational connection, where artistic expression met life wisdom.

The workshops centered on the art of clay making, with each session buzzing with creative energy. Watching our students partner with elderly participants was like witnessing a beautiful connection of generations – young hands learning from experienced ones, and fresh perspectives meeting timeless wisdom. As clay took shape under their collaborative touch, so did meaningful relationships.

On February 22, 2025, our school campus transformed into an art gallery, displaying the remarkable creations born from these partnerships. Each piece told a story – not just of artistic skill, but of shared laughter, exchanged stories, and newfound friendships. Beyond the tangible crafts, the true masterpiece was the bridge built between generations, fostering profound respect and understanding among our students for their elderly mentors.

This initiative did more than teach art – it cultivated essential values of empathy and respect while creating treasured memories that will endure in the hearts of all participants. Through clay and creativity, we built lasting bonds that strengthen our community’s fabric.
