Visits and Insights from Leading University Professors

In November 2025, our school had the privilege of hosting distinguished professors from three renowned universities, each bringing unique insights and experiences to our dear Pooikeinians.

1. Visit of Professor Peter Sadler, the University of Warwick
Professor Peter Sadler from the University of Warwick delivered an engaging lecture titled “Roles of the Chemical Elements in Sustaining Life,” arranged by our Science and Engineering Research Academy (SERA). The session was not only informative but also sparked lively discussions about the fundamental role chemistry plays in biological processes.

2. Visit of Professor Joerg Henning, the University of Queensland
Professor Joerg Henning presented an inspiring talk titled “Become a Fully Qualified and Internationally Recognised Veterinarian at a World Top-50 University.” This session aimed to motivate our Senior Form students, enlightening them about the pathways and opportunities available in the field of veterinary medicine. His insights into the educational and professional landscape were particularly enlightening, fostering a deeper interest in veterinary studies among our eager students.

 
3. Visit of Professor Richard So, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and Aumnus Sharing

Professor Richard So and our alumnus, Mr. Parry Chan, provided a comprehensive introduction to their esteemed Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics program. During the session, Mr. Chan shared his career trajectory, illustrating how his studies at HKUST equipped him with essential skills and insights. The program’s emphasis on data-driven decision-making was a focal point. They discussed how the rigorous training and collaborative environment at HKUST have propelled him into a successful career at Towngas, showcasing the versatility and relevance of their education in today’s data-centric world.

 

These visits not only enriched our academic pursuits but also fostered valuable connections between our school and these esteemed universities. We look forward to more collaborative efforts and continued learning in the future!
