Tree-planting at Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre
On 12 April 2025, Pooikeinians participated in a tree-planting activity at Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre. Our students were guided by professors from the CUHK School of Architecture to learn more about the Christian Centre and its landscape.
Pooikeinians received an informative environmental talk and learned about tree-planting procedures from the professors. We managed to plant 20 tree seedlings with fortunate timing before the rain began.
While most students found the process tiring, they also found it meaningful.
The activity aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 13 (Climate Action) and Goal 15 (Life on Land – Protect, Restore and Promote Sustainable Use of Terrestrial Ecosystems). Through collaborative efforts to preserve and restore forests and degraded land, Pooikeinians have developed positive values such as commitment, unity and law-abidingness, as well as a sense of national identity.
