Staff Development (January)

On 7 January 2026, our teaching staff gathered for Staff Development Day 4. The day was divided into two parts: a morning session focused on “Purposeful Team Building” and an afternoon session dedicated to “Inter-school Subject Interflow”.

The morning session featured a LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® workshop led by SENSE Learning. Designed to strengthen collaboration and mutual understanding among staff, the session began with an ice-breaking activity using LEGO® mini-figures. This energizing game encouraged staff to interact naturally with one another while working on a collaborative task. Participants were guided to shift from individual thinking to team-oriented cooperation, highlighting how stronger outcomes emerge through collaborative effort rather than competition. highlighting how stronger outcomes emerge through collaborative effort rather than competition.

Following this, participants were introduced to the core techniques of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology, beginning with a “house-building” task to master basic construction. From there, they progressed to metaphorical modeling, learning to transform abstract ideas into tangible forms for clearer communication.

The focus then shifted to understanding colleagues’ perspectives on the school. Participants constructed individual models representing the key factors driving the school’s success. Sharing these creations provided valuable insights into the diverse yet interconnected viewpoints within the team.

Finally, participants collaborated to synthesize these individual models into a collective model that symbolized a unified vision of the school’s strengths. This effort fostered strategic thinking and problem-solving while strengthening team alignment and cohesion. The workshop ended with a renewed commitment to nurturing student growth through effective communication and purposeful collaboration.

In the afternoon, staff engaged in subject-based professional exchanges with partner schools. Led by KLA and Panel Heads, teachers explored effective pedagogies for student engagement and strategies for public examination preparation, while also exchanging insights on school-based curriculum development.

This interflow not only fostered a strong culture of professional sharing but also strengthened inter-school partnerships. The day concluded with a commemorative group photograph, followed by reflective sessions to consolidate learning and extend professional growth beyond the classroom.
