Six Days of Magic: The Highlights of English Week 2026

2026-04-23

From April 23 to April 30 2026, our school embarked on a new journey with our English Week. Over six action-packed days, the campus was transformed into a hub of creativity and competition. Students immersed themselves in an abundance of activities to foster a love for the language. It wasn’t just about learning English; it was about living it!

The Daily Kick-off: Story Gurus

As our very first activity, the “Story Gurus” set a magical tone. During every recess and lunchtime, students hunted for these mysterious figures in capes to collect story cards from various genres. The mission? Collect enough story cards to redeem a stamp for their “English Week Stamp Card”!

S3 Human Boggle

After the “Story Guru hunt” kicked off, “Human Boggle” hit the grounds in a fantastic collaboration with Fit Friday. This was far more than a simple board game; it was a competitive sport! Each class relied on a designated “gamer” to identify words with lightning speed, while the rest of the students acted as runners and had 10 seconds to sprint and grab the necessary letter tiles, creating a heart-pounding atmosphere that left the student body completely electrified and fully immersed in the competition.

S1 & S2 Inter-class Spelling Bee

Next one was the S1 and S2 Inter-class Spelling Bee, which put our junior students’ vocabulary skills and memory to the ultimate test. The first round required absolute precision, with contestants spelling words they had learned in their lessons with total accuracy. But the real drama unfolded in the second round, where the rules changed to a “fastest-finger” showdown where students had to balance accuracy with lightning-fast reflexes, keeping the audience completely fascinated.

English Art Season

The energy shifted from fierce competition to pure celebration during the Art Season. This showcase brought students and teachers together for a series of singing and dancing that drew massive crowds. The undisputed highlight of the day was Mr. McAuley’s legendary performance; his high-energy singing were so captivating that it genuinely seemed to stop the pouring rain, saving our outdoor activity- Art Season!

Friday Assembly: *English Quiz Show*

The thrill of competition moved to the main stage during the regular Friday Assembly for the Inter-House English Quiz Show. The school hall was filled with an electric energy in creative rounds such as decoding Gen Z slang, trivia on Mr. Lee’s Principal messages, a Tongue Twister challenge, and a mind-bending Human-Machine session. The fast-paced format, combined with interactive audience elements like the “Chance Card”, sparked frantic teamwork on stage and drew massive cheers from the crowd.

A special shout-out goes to our incredible MC, Mr. Gerald Li, for keeping the energy sky-high, and our sharp judge, Ms. Rachel Wong, for keeping the scores fair and accurate!

S2 Reading Fair

S2 Reading Fair had transformed Zone D into a literary carnival. S2 students worked in group tirelessly to pitch their favorite books using eye-catching, custom-designed foam boards and interactive displays. Our principal, Mr. Lee, was spotted among the eager visitors, moving from stall to stall to chat with the passionate presenters, and testing his luck at student-run booth games before casting his official votes for the most creative and popular teams.

Book Fair

To wrap up our six-day English Week and cultivate lifelong reading habits, we hosted a Book Fair outside Zone D for two days. Tables were packed with hundreds of English books spanning every genre imaginable—from gripping fiction and colorful comics to inspiring self-help books. It was the perfect conclusion to an energetic week.

We also want to praise our S4 and S5 students for demonstrating such innovation and skillful use of technology through the Mizou Chatbox in the AI Writing Competition. Kudos also to all the students who pay attention to our lunchtime broadcasts every day and answer the mini quizzes – your listening skills are truly impressive!

Not only did students shine during English Week—our teachers had a blast too! The staff room was filled with laughter as teachers joined fun games tailored just for them, from riddles and handwriting guesses to movie quote challenges.
