Setting the Standard of Excellence: SPKC Student Athlete Conference 2026–2027

2026-09-30

To mark the official commencement of the 2026–2027 sporting season, our school hall was filled with an electric sense of unity and anticipation as over 400 student athletes representing 15 distinct sports teams assembled for the annual Student Athlete Conference.

The conference serves a vital role at the beginning of each academic year: to align our sports teams around shared expectations, reinforce core athletic values, and set a high standard of commitment across every discipline. Reflecting on our past accomplishments—including participation in over 50 HKSSF inter-school competitions last season—the PE Department outlined the roadmap for the year ahead, emphasizing that being a school athlete carries both privilege and responsibility. Central to our sports culture are the foundational pillars of Attitude and Responsibility, reminding every participant that athletic success begins with self-discipline, respect, and academic diligence.

A highlight of the event was an inspiring guest-sharing session featuring our very own Mathematics teacher, Mr. Austin Chang. Beyond his dedicated role in the classroom, Mr. Chang is an elite competitor representing Team Hong Kong, China in canoeing at the 2026 Asian Games.

During the dialogue, Mr. Chang candidly discussed the daily discipline required to balance high-level competition with professional and personal responsibilities. His journey provided our young athletes with a concrete model of perseverance, proving that excellence in academics and sports are mutually reinforcing pursuits.

Armed with renewed motivation, shared goals, and a collective commitment to sportsmanship, our 15 sports teams are fully prepared to represent our school with pride, grit, and honor in the upcoming season.
