Global Education Committee’s annual Eurovision Song Contest project

2026-05-08

On the 8th May 2026, four classes in S3 showcased their music videos and art work as part of the Global Education Committee’s annual Eurovision Song Contest project. For the last five years, selected classes in S3 have been tasked with projects related to the biggest music competition in the world.

This year the English classes of 3H, 3F, 3J, and 3JLP were entrusted with creating a music video for one of the 35 entrants in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The music video would be the inspiration for students as they had to show that countries culture within the music video. Students were encouraged to film outside of school, and outside of their homes.

Not only did students have to research the culture of their chosen country, but they also had to create an image that combined Hong Kong culture with the culture of their chosen country. This is all part of expanding their horizons whilst linking to their Module 4 work in S3 which focuses on Hong Kong culture.

With weeks of preparation, the showcase of their work was done in the BBT. Students got to watch each other’s hard work whilst learning about the cultures of Azerbaijan, Lithuania, and Bulgaria to name but a few. At the end, just like the actual singing competition that has been running for 70 years, a vote was taken. Students got to vote for their favorite acts, and the winners for the music videos were: To Sum Yuet Abby (3J24), Sham Yuen Kiu (3J21), and Wong King Yeung Lucius (3J31) who represented Croatia. In the other cohort the winner was Cheung Shing Hang Terrance (3H7) who represented Cyprus.

On top of the music video winners were the design winners of Wong Hoi Lam Catherine (3J29) representing Lithuania, and Lee Yat Yan (3F17) representing Italy. The winning designs, plus the designs of the winning music video entrants, will now be made into products to celebrate their achievement and effort in the Eurovision project 2026.
