Dreaming Big – Alumni Captain Winson Chan Returns to School

2026-06-22

On June 22, our school had the distinct honor of welcoming back alumnus Captain Winson Chan, now a pilot with a leading international airline.
Captain Chan returned not only to reminisce, but to share his remarkable journey — from the corridors of our school to the cockpit of a commercial jet. His heartfelt talk inspired our students, especially those aspiring to become pilots, with powerful lessons on discipline, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

Captain Chan has logged over 600 flying hours on aircraft. In his presentation, he emphasized that being a pilot is not about glamour, but about responsibility.

After the formal talk, we turned the auditorium into a mini assessment centre. Captain Chan guided students through three quick, game‑style tests that mimic actual airline screening tools.

Laughter and gasps filled the room as even our teachers found these activities surprisingly difficult.

Students discovered that becoming a pilot involves more than just desire; it also requires discipline, fast thinking, and emotional control. The aptitude tests indicated their individual cognitive strengths and weaknesses. They realized that self-awareness, cooperation, and lifelong learning are crucial for any high-stakes industry, including aviation.
