Presentation by the Champion Team on the stage

For the Junior Section, six S3 students were awarded for their statistical poster which investigated the population challenges in Hong Kong. With their outstanding performance, SPKC has successfully defended the championship and won the First Prize (Junior Section) for three consecutive years. For the Senior Section, two groups of students were awarded for their 24-page statistical reports about the demographic new normal and education system respectively. Since the core members of the two senior teams come from our Champion teams last year, they have shown enduring perseverance to make further achievements this year.

The junior team is receiving their trophy and “memorable shield for champion school” from Ms. Marion CHAN Shiu-yu, Commissioner for Census and Statistics

Apart from the trophies, our school name will be carved onto the “Memorable Shield for Champion School” which will be kept in our campus for one more year. It is a great honor and recognition to Pooikeinians who have made continuous engagement in this inter-school competition. In particular, our students have made extraordinary efforts to overcome the challenges of social distancing during the suspension period of face-to-face lessons due to the pandemic outbreak. All the team members have collaborated closely to complete their sophisticated statistical researches by using instant messaging technology and web conference meeting

The senior team (S4) is receiving their awards from Prof. Alan WAN Tze-kin, President of Hong Kong Statistical Society

The senior team (S5) has made continuous engagement in this competition for three consecutive years

In the past 13 years, our school has submitted 20 statistical projects and won 35 prestigious awards including 9 Champions as well as 9 Prizes for the Best Graphical Presentation of Statistics. Our students’ analytical mindset and presentation skills are polished through preparing for their statistical researches, final interviews and oral defense every year. This inter-school competition has become a unique tradition and invaluable learning experiences for different generations of Pooikeinians.
