The visit to the Aviation Education Path located in the Civil Aviation Department Headquarters near the Hong Kong International Airport as one of the Other Learning Experience (OLE) activity for students run very smoothly on 9 April 2014.
In that fine afternoon, 30 students from Form 1 – 3 reached the Civil Aviation Department Headquarters and were greeted by the tour-guide of the day. After all students have put on the hearing aid provided by the Aviation Department, the tour guide then started the walking tour of the Aviation Education Path by introducing to us the main features of the Hong Kong International Airport and the main buildings of the CAD.
The visit to the Aviation Education Path located in the Civil Aviation Department Headquarters near the Hong Kong International Airport as one of the Other Learning Experience (OLE) activity for students run very smoothly on 9 April 2014.
With this opening, students were then furthered introduced to the main duties of staff working at the CAD, the general history of Hong Kong aviation, the different airplane models, all the companies and different parties that may work in collaboration with the aviation industry, and all kinds of other interesting knowledge about aviation such as the construction and engineering of airplanes, how the motors work, passenger safety, and the emergency and survival equipments on aircraft. All this information is novel to our students which greatly facilitated their interest. This can be reflected by how actively many students asked questions in order to find out more about the various topics, how often they took photos, and how attentive they were to the different information that was on display at the Aviation Education Path.
After this visit, students have gained a lot more knowledge about aviation in general, and that some might even be motivated to explore more about this subject on their own.
