Mathematics Day 2025-26

2026-03-13

As the Pie Day was approaching, we are thrilled and excited to announce the successful conclusion of the Math Day 2025-2026. This year, we are focusing on fostering Pooikeinians’ skills for critical thinking and thinking outside the box.

In the Reading Across Curriculum session, Ms. Candy Wong, Deputy Head of Mathematics Department, shared with students reverse thinking skills, accompanied by the whole-school individual problem-solving competition.

Math lessons in the week were also conducted in a way different from the typical lesson setting. We brought lots of board games, including Rummikub and the Strategy Game, into the lesson with an aim of arousing students’ interests in exploration in the world of Mathematics with joy and laughter.

In the lunch session, here came the highlight of the Math Day – Problem Solving Competition. Not only was it rewardable and challenging, but also students further broadened their horizon and to had a glimpse of Mathematics outside the textbook. Students gained the sense of fulfillment by how successfully the knowledge they learned can be applied to daily-life situations.
