| The Integrated Humanities (IH) Project Presentation Competition was held successfully on 20th June, 2018. The theme of the project learning was improving the community problems in Siu Lek Yuen in Shatin. The Shatin District (Kwong Yuen) Councillor, Ms. Chan Man Kuen (陳敏娟女士) was invited to be our honourable guest. |

| One of the key learning components of the S.1 I.H. curriculum is the community problems in Hong Kong. To facilitate learning, S1 students investigated the community problems specifically in Siu Lek Yuen by actively engaging in group discussion, conducting survey and going on a field trip. This inquiry-based learning method enabled students to have a greater understanding of the community problems in Siu Lek Yuen and make feasible suggestions through their first-hand experience. The best group of each class in S.1 was chosen to share their research methods and learning outcome. The common concerns of each group ranged from road safety, pollution-related problems to the facilities for the elderly. |

| The Shatin District (Kwong Yuen) Councillor, Ms. Chan Man Kuen thanked the contestants for giving her valuable opinions and suggestions regarding the community problems in Siu Lek Yuen. She went on to share her role in district affairs and her concrete work for the betterment of Kwong Yu Estate. Our students learned the functions of District Councils from her sharing. |
